If you like your own private snorkling beach, privacy, all the amenities, beautiful surrounds, this is the place for you. From the time we got off the ferry, Judy was there to greet us despite the fact that our plane had been 3 hours delayed. Judy was a sweetheart and willing to go the extra mile even when it was 8:30 at night. She led us across the island in the dark, which is no small feat. The villa is just perfect, from the pool to the ocean views to the air conditioning! Everything is there, including the no-see-um! Karen,I think you should start charging these pests! Thanks for a wonderful vacation in paradise.
Lille Paradis is really off the beaten track. It's a lovely home, located past Salt Pond Bay. I included a picture of the outside of the house, but the picture is very deceiving, it's much bigger inside than it looks. When you're on the deck, or in the pool, you can't see another house. Pretty views of Kiddell Bay. On occasion we'd see cruise ships passing in the night. Close to south shore beaches: Salt Pond Bay, Little Lameshur. Private path to Kiddell Bay which is a rocky beach. Not ultra-luxurious, no granite counter tops or flat screen TVs, but it's comfortable and well equipped. There's internet access, but no wi-fi. Absolutely no cell phone signal. Cable TV is available. The house is built on a hillside. The main floor has the living/dining area, kitchen, loft bedroom, and bathroom with outdoor shower. The loft is over the kitchen/bath, and accessed via a sturdy ladder. You go out on the deck and down a spiral staircase to the master bedroom with bathroom, indoor shower, and deck. Down another set of stairs to get to the pool and hot tub. AC in both the main floor and the master bedroom. There's a stacked washer/dryer as well. We enjoyed watching the humming birds and bananaquits at the feeder on the deck. The house is fairly cool, with ocean breezes and ceiling fans. We only turned on the AC to sleep. The outdoor shower is made of stone, I really enjoyed it (but not too much to conserve water ;-)). The road to get to the house is very rocky, and there are abandoned cars along the way. I was expecting it based on reviews I had read, but if you weren't expecting that, you might wonder where you were going. The driveway is tricky, sort of a switchback. The driveway is shared with La Sirena, the home next door. Once you get the hang of it, the driveway is no problem. We were met at the dock, taken to get our rental car, then brought us to the market, and guided to Lille Paradis. She was very cheerful, despite that we were delayed an hour on a Sunday afternoon. I'd recommend Lille Paradis for a couple, or a family with a pre-teen or teen child. I was with my 12 year old son. He loved the loft. You also have to want to be off the beaten track. It took about 45 minutes to get to Cruz Bay. 10 minutes or so to get to Coral Bay. If you are planning to bar hop, and eat at a different restaurant every night, you will be disappointed. If on the other hand, you enjoy complete privacy, peace, and quiet, then Lille Paradis is for you.
Last time we staid at La Serena next door, both houses are still very private, and love both houses. The pool is the perfect way to end the perfect beach day and salt pond bay is just up the road and we always see a few sea turtle there. I love that you are close to the national park beaches but can be off the beaten path in coral bay and have a quiet home to come back to. The humming birds greeted us every morning as we ate breakfast on the porch looking at beautiful kiddle bay and listening to the waves crash, and there were supplies (sugar and water) to make more humming bird food when you ran out. One afternoon I went to lay towels over the porch railing to dry in the sun and there were 2 baby deers looking at me from less than 3 feet away it was an amazing moment! The dinning options in coral bay are just a good as cruz bay: Tourist trap is must Tuesday-Saturday, Concorida was a delicious, shipwreck is always a good meal and skinny legs is an island institution not to be missed. One heads up we have learned in 2 years of going to St john skip the coral bay market every time we buy more than rum there it is a disaster, waffles moldy, break moldy, yogurt expired, and fruit was rotten. It is well worth it to stock up in cruz bay. I recommend the fish trap fish market if you want to make your own lobster or fish one nigh and watch the sunset from the house. The trip was so calming and restoringand I know a large reason why was this homes simple splendor we hope to come back soon
We had a wonderful and relaxing vacation here at Lille Paradis. We were so comfortable here. The pool was heavenly. The views are amazing! We saw 2 cruise ships passing on 2 nights. We enjoyed the bananaquits and the hummingbirds visiting the feeder. Our favorite place for dinner was Aqua Bistro and the Tourist Trap for lunch. Loved the beach at Salt Pond Bay. Dave from Crabby's was helpful setting us up with snorkeling gear and a lovely trip with Captain Marie on the Serena Sea. The peace and quiet of the villa was the perfect antidote for the stress of everyday life.
