Gibney's luxury cottages are located on the extraordinary Hawksnest Beach of St John, US Virgin Islands.
The quiet charm of St. John is irresistible. To reach it, travelers take the short passage from St Thomas by boat. There are no landing strips, traffic lights or fast food restaurants, just breathtaking beauty. Two-thirds of the island is National Park, thanks to Lawrence Rockefeller's donation. The offshore volcanic topography features many small cays and rocks on a shallow bottom. It is one of the premier dive sites.
The Beach Cottage is a one bedroom king size suite and is located directly on the white sand beach. This one of a kind cottage has marble floors, a fully equipped kitchen and a large porch sitting directly on the beach. There are indoor and outdoor showers as well as central A/C. This is a wonderful cottage in an absolutely spectacular setting.
The North Shore/Catherineberg area, an exclusive, centrally-located lush neighborhood, is nestled within the Virgin Islands National Park and provides fabulous North Shore views, including Maho Bay, Francis Bay and Cinnamon Bay. You'll find mostly rental villas and second homes in this desirable neighborhood, which is just a 5-10 minute drive from North Shore beaches. Catherineberg is perfect for vacationers looking for seclusion and proximity to beaches. Just a 15-minute drive from Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, Catherineberg is the perfect home base if you want to explore the island, experiencing all that St. John has to offer. You'll also be very close to the Catherineberg ruins, the site of a working sugar mill and plantation in the mid-1700s. Both Centerline and the North Shore Road are accessible from the Catherineberg road. While this road is only partially paved and somewhat difficult to traverse at times, the trip is well worth the seclusion and magnificent views you'll find in Catherineberg.

My husband and I have stayed at Gibney Beach for 10 years now and we find it to be like no other place around. Last year we came twice and brought our family and rented both cottages and our kids (grown and married) want to know when we are going back. You will not be disappointed, it is a modest place, but the location right on the beach is just perfect for us. Nice, sandy, quite beach almost to yourself!! What more could you ask for?
We are a family of 4, with two teen boys and we stayed at the Garden villa for a week. The house is comfortable for a family of 4, the downstairs bedroom offers privacy, the upstairs bedroom was roomy and comfortable for the boys with a queen size bed and a queen size futon. The kitchen was all that we needed to cook and the addition of the outside brand new gas grill was great. I don't really need air-conditioning but the rest of the family does and it worked very well. The star attraction of this property is the beach. You are right on Gibney beach in the middle of the St. John national park. There is no packing up the car with lunch and beverages and chairs. We enjoyed the beach at all hours of day and night because it was right there! The property is nicely kept. It has a laid back feel. We loved all of the tropical fruit trees surrounding us. We will definitely be back.
Just like the other reviewers, I wish I could keep this a secret place, it is so beautiful, serene and wonderful. Location, location, location. Magnificent. Beautiful aqua water, pristine beach. We spent every morning drinking our coffee and eating breakfast on the beach. The 2 cottages that are "the villas" are fantastic. We stayed in the cottage behind the beach cottage. Fantastic! Nicely decorated, comfortable. Perfect for 2; four is doable since there is an upstairs loft with a comfy bed and deck. The lovely welcome basket was a nice surprise. Teri is a wonderful host. She is part of the charm of Gibney Beach and most locals know and love her. I cannot wait to return to this gem
The pictures of the property don't do it justice--it is even more amazing than we expected! The Beach Cottage was absolutely perfect-impeccably clean, well-stocked, and inviting. The surrounding gardens were lush and beautiful, and Israel, the groundskeeper, kept us stocked with fresh bananas from their trees and herbs for us to cook with. And the beach...words cannot express how peaceful and beautiful the beach is! The only thing that could have possibly coaxed us out of the relaxing lounge chairs was the crystal-clear, cool, turquoise water! We enjoyed every second of our beach time! We brought home not only beautiful photos and a New Year's tan, but also memories and stories of a sea turtle joining us as we kayaked and gorgeous tropical fish sightings when snorkeling right off the shore. There are too many trails on the island to count, so if you get motivated enough to leave the property during daylight hours, all the adventure you want is all around you! When we return to Gibney Beach, which we will definitely do, we look forward to staying at this lovely property!
